Creatine: a natural friend to change your bodyshape
If you want to bulk up or tone up, add creatine to your workout plan. It’s totally natural and really helps with muscle growth.
Creatine is an amino acid and it’s in foods like beef, pork, salmon, cod, herring and tuna.
The amount of creatine in these foods though is pretty small – which is a shame because creatine really helps you to build muscle.
Here’s how it works.
Over 90% of your body’s creatine is stored in the muscles. It’s stored there to give your body a boost when it needs it (like on that last set…)
Now here’s the brianiac bit.
Your muscles need Adenosine Triphosphate (or ATP) to fuel them. But your muscles only have enough ATP on board for 6 seconds or so hard graph – then your body needs creatine to replenish the ATP.
This is why creatine gives you impressive growth. If fuels the ATP, which fuels your muscles, so you can squeeze out the last rep or that last set on the new heavier weight.
This means your muscles get ‘ shredded’. And we know how your body deals with that: it makes them bigger so it doesn’t happen again.
It’s also why people report shorter recovery times with creatine.
